Guidelines for Accessible Word and PDF documents

The CEN/BTWG 213 ‘Strategic Advisory Group on Accessibility’ has developed Guidelines for Accessible Word and PDF documents.

The Strategic Advisory Group on Accessibility (SAGA) has taken the initiative to develop Guidelines for Accessible Word and PDF documents, so that all Technical Bodies who wish to ensure their work is readable by the widest possible audience can now make this happen. In this way, SAGA is also responding to recent requests by Technical Bodies who are looking for support in this area.

The Guidelines start by laying out the steps to create an accessible Word document and then continue to give exact instructions on how to convert an already-accessible Word document into PDF, so that the PDF file maintains the same accessibility level.

The Guidelines can be found on the CEN BOSS, under Drafting guidance: https://boss.cen.eu/reference-material/guidancedoc/pages/

For any questions on this or the topic of accessibility more generally, please contact SAGA’s secretary, Ms Marit Kveine Nygren mny@standard.no.
