Strategy 2030 Implementation

3 pillars

CEN and CENELEC are undertaking a number of activities in order to realize their  Strategy 2030. There are 3 pillars that lead to these strategic outcomes:

Pillar 1: Strategy 2030 Projects

The current projects in support of the Strategy 2030 are:

  • Timely Citation of Harmonized Standards
  • 📝 Online Standards Development (CEN/CENELEC)
  • 🚀 Smart Standards (CEN/CENELEC)
  • Diversity & Inclusion Dashboard
  • Strategic International Action Mechanism (in Closure phase)

All CEN and CENELEC Members are invited to participate in these projects by responding to Calls for Participation, when issued, subject to:

Pillar 2: Activities @ Members

Many responsibilities lie with Members themselves. In order to gather information about progress, Members will be asked to respond to a survey every 2 years; results will be collated and a summary presented here.

Goal 1. EU and EFTA recognize and use the strategic value of the European Standardization System

 

Priority 1.1 Renew the public private partnership with the EU to enable a well-functioning single market

  • EC-ESOs TF activities
  • Setting up of the Harmonized Standards Compliance Team in CCMC
  • Innovative process for hENs being developed
  • Involvement in the development of the Hydrogen Roadmap identifying future standardization needs
  • EPH
  • Supporting legislative initiatives in the area of digitalization (AI, Data Act, Digital Products Passport)
  • Contributions to EP initiative on Regulation 1025/2012

Priority 1.2 Promote the value that CEN and CENELEC standards bring in supporting European public policy

  • Mapping of CEN and CENELEC activities against the EU Strategy for Standardization
  • Support Presidents and Sherpa in contributions to  the HLF
  • Identification of priorities and coordination with CEN-CENELEC stakeholders, e.g., all-electric society and clean tech

Priority 1.3 Combatting climate change

  • Project being developed to support the mapping of standards supporting the green and digital transition (engaging young professionals in collaboration with AMS)
  • EFRAG - sustainability reporting

Goal 2. Our customers and stakeholders benefit from state-of-the-art digital solutions

Priority 2.1 Produce standards fit for the digital economy

  • Establishment of a HAS-platform (data-exchange automation, co-funded by EISMEA grant)
  • SDI marketing platform
  • Call for tender to Members to pilot SMART standards solutions
  • File Attachments

Priority 2.2 Transform the standards development process

  • Collaboration with IEC on new meeting-planner
  • Automation of data import from ISO for projects under the Vienna Agreement
  • CENELEC Delegation to TCs on New Work Item approval

Priority 2.3 Transforming our business models for the digital era

  • CAFG FiMO WS 3 and Final Report to CA

Goal 3. Increase the use and awareness of CEN and CENELEC deliverables

Priority 3.1 Increase awareness about the strategic value of our work

  • HEU Proposal on Education about Standardization
  • Stakeholder Engagement Workshops on i) Clean Technologies; ii) All-electric society (2023)

Priority 3.2 Enhance engagement for a better understanding of user needs

  • MRMC
  • Mapping of Annex III requests regarding participation in standardization, incl. development of an Action Plan in three key areas: national level, international level, participation-processes
  • Dedicated IAF Working Groups (8)

Goal 4. The CEN-CENELEC system to be the preferred choice for standardization in Europe

Priority 4.1 An inclusive CEN-CENELEC system as the gateway for standardization in Europe

  • Gender Action Plan II (2023- 2025)
  • IAF WG on Young Professionals
  • Development of Action Plan with Annex III partners (proposal for follow-up project P4)

Goal 5. Strengthen our leadership and ambition at the international level

Priority 5.1 Enhance global outreach and influence through strengthening ISO and IEC

  • Quality Infrastructure Proposal with ARSO and AFSEC (Africa)
  • Two HEU proposals on ICT standardization promotion to international partners (submitted to EC in March, evaluation expected in August)
  • Global Outreach Report & Members' Annex 

Priority 5.2 International standardization to be a lever for sustainable development

  • Stakeholder Engagement Workshop on All Electric Society (economic, ecologic and societal impact of an all-electric society)
  • DS Secretariat for TC on Management System for ustainable Development Goals – Requirements for any organization (approved ISO/PC 343)
